Wayne Hills' Brian Dowling.
NORTH JERSEY – The latest episode of our new podcast 'Where Are They Now' featuring former Wayne Hills' RB Brian Dowling is up and it was another great show. If you haven't heard it yet you can listen to it here.
As usual, we did forget to ask a few things. So we called him back to ask him 5 more questions...
1) You were a big part of the Wayne Hills offense for three years. What were some of your statistics?
In a three year varsity career: 3,493 yards rushing, 75 receptions for 1,148 yards and 5,569 all-purpose yards (school record). Scored 74 touchdowns (school record) and 448 total points (school record).
2) Did you have any pregame rituals?
I'd listen to music before high school games. In college, I enjoyed checking out some last-minute film on my iPad.
3) What other schools recruited you besides Townson?
Well, the truth is my GPA was below a 2.0 so I was limited where I could go considering I wasn't even eligible for my scholarship until my senior year. Umass, Towson, Monmouth and Rutgers recruited me both out of high school and when I was transferring. In hindsight, the best decision I made was transferring to Towson. I'm extremely grateful for my experience playing at Towson, I had great teammates and coaches who really invested in making that National Championship run.
4) What is your greatest accomplishment as a high school football player?
Being able to earn a full scholarship to multiple universities. With the help of my parents, coaches and teammates I was able to further my education. Not everybody can say that and it means a lot to me.
5) What have you done to pursue continuing your football career since graduating college?
I went through the process and pro days. Spent time living in Miami and training @bommaritos which led me to some private workouts with scouts; most notably Alonzo Highsmith. I was invited down to Atlanta to workout for the AAF Legends during their season but they cancelled the league a week after the workout. There are so many highs and lows I could list but ultimately it was a learning experience. I still train everyday and I'm in the best shape of my life and I will always continue to stay in shape and stay competing.
