The Friars are now just four wins away of their goal of winning the Tournament of Champions. They posted easy wins of 87-20 over Eastern Christian and 85-44 over Queen of Peace. They will meet Dwight Englewood on Thursday night at Rutgers in the Non-Public North B final and, with a win, would then meet the winner of Gil St Bernards vs. Roselle Catholic. Roselle Catholic upset what many thought was the Friars' biggest obstacle in The Patrick School. |

ST. JOSEPH REGIONAL (19-8) -- The Green Knights, fresh off winning the Bergen County Jamboree, paid a visit to Hudson Catholic, the No. 7 team in the state, and pulled the upset in the Non-Public A quarterfinals. Chauncey Hawkins and Nate Garvey went toe to toe with the highly-regarded HC guards and built a lead that grew to as many as 27 points before the Hawks rallied. Next up is Don Bosco Prep for a fourth time this season with the winner heading to Rutgers on Thursday. |

The Ironmen, ranked No. 10 in the state, beat St. Peter’s Prep, 63-41, as Omar Mostafa scored 15 points to set up another meeting with St. Joseph at home Monday at 7pm. |

HUDSON CATHOLIC (21-4) --The Hawks almost pulled off one of the greatest comebacks against St. Joseph after their cold shooting in the second quarter left them down 48-30 at the break and by 27 points in the third quarter. They rallied and a Jahvon Quinerly layup attempt off a steal with 30 seconds remaining could have tied the game. Bryan Griffin blocked it and SJR hit their free throws down the stretch to end Hudson Catholic's season. |

TEANECK (24-4) -- The Highwayman secured a spot in the North 1, Group 3 final as they beat Old Tappan, 56-53, for the third time this season. Ja’Quaye James hit 5 threes and scored 17 points in the win. They will return to Ramapo for the title game on Tuesday night at 7 pm after beating the Raiders a year ago in a quarterfinal game. In their opening round state game they beat Northern Highlands, 77-65, as James had 32 points, and that was followed by an 80-67 win over Passaic Valley as Jawaun Daniels had 28 points. |

RAMAPO (25-3) --
The top-seeded Raiders will play for the North 1, Group 3 title on their home court on Tuesday night against Teaneck as they advanced with a nail-biting 57-56 win over Wayne Hills. The Raiders let a big fourth quarter lead slip away as the Patriots tied it late at 54. With the game tied at 56 the Raiders' Ryan Curtiss hit a free throw with two seconds left for the win. In their two opening state games the Raiders won easily, beating Tenafly 47-30 and Pascack Valley 51-36. |

BERGEN CATHOLIC (21-6) --
The Crusaders easily beat Paramus Catholic, 64-44, as Taj Benning led the way with 22 points to set up a huge game at Seton Hall Prep on Monday night in the Non-Public A state sectional semifinals. Seton Hall is currently ranked in the Top 20 nationally. |

SNYDER (17-9) --
The Tigers, three games removed from nearly stunning Hudson Catholic in the Hudson County semifinals,, nearly pulled an enormous upset eight days later at No. 1 seed Chatham.. The Tigers led 41-39 with 90 seconds remaining, but a turnover with the game tied cost them in the 44-43 North 2, Group 3 quarterfinal loss. Kenyon Goodson finished with 18 points. In their state tournament opener, the Tigers beat Cranford, 73-60, as Kenyon Goodson had 27 and Ronald Washington had 23 points |

HACKENSACK (20-8) --
The Comets rode a 33-point effort by MJ Richardson to a 75-71 win over top-seeded Union City in the North 1, Group 4 semifinals to set up a home game against Morristown on Monday night for the title. The Comets led 23-11 after the first quarter and held on from there. They had a razor thin, 50-49, win in the opening round of the states against Ridgewood, a team they lost to a week earlier, and then played a great first half against Eastside in a quarterfinal victory. |

NV/OLD TAPPAN (17-8) --
The Knights won a thriller with a buzzer-beating 3-point shot by Kevin Eifert to beat Wayne Valley, 46-43, in the North 1, Group 3 state sectional quarterfinals, but their season ended two days later 56-53 loss at Teaneck. Junior Justin Minaya led with 13 points against Wayne Valley, 18 points against Teaneck and 28 against West Essex in an opening round win. |

The Ghosts, flying high after capturing the Passaic County title with a win over Wayne Valley, had their season come to an abrupt end in a 61-52 loss at Hackensack in the North 1, Group 4 state sectional quarterfinals. In their opening round game they beat Passaic, 54-36, as Lamar Johnson had 19 points |

The Cowboys had their terrific season come to a crashing halt when they were stunned on their own court by Mahwah, 54-53 in the North 1, Group 2 quarterfinals. In their opening round game they beat Dumont, 68-50. |

WAYNE HILLS (22-5) --
The Patriots nearly pulled off a dramatic comeback at Ramapo as they rallied from 16 down in the fourth quarter to tie the game late before losing 57-56 on a free throw with two seconds remaining. In their first game of the states they beat up Sparta, 70-38, as Jason Modak had 23 points and then struggled with River Dell, trailing 36-35 heading to the fourth before pulling away late to win 56-44. |

RAMSEY (24-3) --
The Rams are right back to where they were a year ago where they suffered a stunning 92-90 loss to Manchester in last season's North 1, Group 2 state sectiona final. This year they will host the same game against the same opponent. The Rams got there by winning their semifinal game handily over Elmwood Park, 54-27, as Michael Cirilli had 15 points. In their opening round game they beat Westwood, 55-29, and then easily beat Jefferson, 65-36. |

The Marauders ended their season in a 63-41 loss at the top-seeded Don Bosco Prep. They beat Oratory, 56-38, in the opening round of the states. |

DWIGHT-ENGLEWOOD (23-6) --
After suffering a loss to Passaic Tech right before the states, the Bulldogs have run off three straight convincing wins to set up a trip to where they will play St. Anthony for the Non-Public North B state title. There was something special about their semifinal win as they got to play Montclair Immaculate and Jalen Carey, who transferred out after last season. Carey scored 24 points, including the 1,000th of his career, but that was not enough as D-E won 58-53. In the opening game of the states they beat Marist, 69-58, as Tyson Etienne had 24 points and then beat Morris Catholic, 47-31. |

The Gaels lost to Montclair Immaculate, 65-54, to end their season. A bad third quarter did them in as they went from down 3 at half to being outscored 14-2 in the next eight minutes. |

MANCHESTER (17-6) --
The Falcons will try to defend their North 1, Group 2 title after they knocked off Mahwah, 65-59, in double overtime to set up a rematch of their epic 92-90 overtime win at Ramsey a year ago. However, the Falcons will be without Alex Morales, the star of last year's final. They opened the states as the No. 3 seed and beat Kinnelon, 58-41, and then knocked off Pequannock in the sectional quarterfinals as Terol again led his team with 16 points. |

UNION CITY (23-6) --The Soaring Eagles opened the states with a 79-53 beating of Belleville as Kenneth Aviles had 18 points to sett up their 64-55 win over Montclair in the North 1, Group 4 state sectional quarterfinals. Their season came to an end on their home court in a 75-71 loss to Hackensack. |
