ST. ANTHONY (6-0) --The Friars are back in the top spot after posting three impressive wins this week, two in the Skyline Classic in Jersey City. Started with a 82-54 victory over Brighton (MA) as they opened a 50-28 halftime lead. Toppled Atlantic City, 69-53, two days later. RJ Cole hit for 31 points in both games and collected his 1,000th career point against Brighton. Ogheneyole Akuwovo had 11 points and 14 rebounds and 4 blocks vs. Atlantic City. The Friars made it 38 straight wins as they took care of Pope John on Sunday in the Jump Off Classic, 59-37 as Cole led with 16 points and was named MVP. Tuesday at Columbia |

HUDSON CATHOLIC (5-2) --
Losing 32-30 in the finals of the Al Lo Balbo Tournament was not a bad loss for the Hawks as St. Mary’s of Elizabeth is clearly a top 10 team in the state with lots of size. A 10-3 deficit in the third quarter cost them the game. Earlier on Tuesday they beat Morristown Beard, 84-49, and led 46-23 at the break as Jahvon Quinerly ended with 19 points. Louis King added 18 points. On Sunday, at Montclair State, Jahvon Quinerly was named MVP of the Jump Off Classic as he scored 21 points with four assists in a 48-39 win over Teaneck. BERGEN CATHOLIC (6-1) --
Add two more convincing out of state wins for the Crusaders as they beat Girard (PA), 68-51, using a 25-8 1st quarter to propel them to the victory and were led by Columbia commit Gabriel Stefanini, who had 16 points. That was followed by a 59-47 triumph over Salesianum (DE) as they led 32-19 at the break. The Ironmen have run off six straight to start the season and added to their win streak by beating Penn Wood (PA), 58-53, behind Marcellus Earlington’s 21 points. ST. JOSEPH REGIONAL (4-2) -- The Green Knights picked up two wins, the first an easy 69-43 romp over Louis St. Laurant (Canada) as Chauncy Hawkins clicked for 23 points. In the second game the Knights beat Saunders Trades and Tech (NY), 71-46, behind Joseph Radl and Hawkins, who scored 23 points apiece. DePaul Tuesday and at Bosco on Friday |

TEANECK (5-3) -- The Highwaymen came away with a solid win over Montclair Immaculate, 60-58, to take third place in the Jingle Bell Jubilee as the game was close throughout. Ja’Quaye James hit for 27 points, including five 3-pointers. In the opening game they beat Queen of Peace, 75-55, and led 49-16 at half as James had 22. St. Peter’s Prep handed the Highwaymen a somewhat surprising 45-25 loss in the semifinals. They played well in a 48-39 loss to Hudson Catholic on Sunday. Travel to Tenafly on Friday |

NV/OLD TAPPAN (6-0) --
The Golden Knights continue to play great basketball to start the season as they captured the Jack Reilly Tournament in Fort Lee in beating the host school, 78-45, and led 39-15 at half. Justin Minaya finished with 20. The tougher game for the Knights came in the semifinals against a very good Snyder team. That game was tight through three quarters before the Knights pulled away late for a 61-50 win as Minaya ended with 29 points. In the first game they beat Paramus Catholic, 68-35. The Ghosts picked up two matter of fact wins as they beat Ferris, 56-45, as Matthew Lee’s 19 points led the way in the Joe Silver Holiday Tournament in Hillside. They then captured the title by beating Hillside, 54-30, behind Lamar Johnson’s 13 points. They see Passaic Tech Tuesday and travel to Kennedy on Saturday to meet their rival |

ST. PETER'S PREP (4-1) --
The Marauders lost in the championship game of the Jingle Bell Jubilee in Paterson to Gil St. Bernard, the No. 15 team in the state, 48-35. Being down 15-7 after one quarter made the comeback difficult. The Marauders opened the tournament with an impressive win over Kennedy, 55-38, and led 33-20 at halftime. Luke Buckoweic led with 14 points. In the semis a very impressive win over Teaneck 45-25 and used an 18-7 first quarter to propel them to the 20-point win as Shayne Simon led with 13 points. WAYNE HILLS (5-0) --
The Patriots cruised to the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament Title at Ramapo HS as they beat Ramapo in the finals, 64-47. They opened up a close game at half by outscoring the Raiders 24-10 in the third quarter. A balanced attack was the key as four players finished in double figures led by Justin Willis with 13. In the semis they beat DePaul, 83-74, opening a 41-28 halftime lead. Joey Belli had 24 points. Lakeland on Tuesday and Fair Lawn on Friday night |

SNYDER (3-1) -- The Tigers lost to Old Tappan in the semifinals of the Jack Reilly Tournament in Fort Lee, 61-50. They were right there for three quarters, but faded in the final quarter. Isiah Small hit for 31 points in the loss to keep his team within striking distance. On Monday they beat Tenafly, 51-37, as Small had 18 points. They will see St. Peter’s Prep on Tuesday night. |

The Knights opened their own holiday tournament with a 55-38 loss to St. Peter’s Prep, but rallied to win the final two games, beating Queen of Peace 90-53 using a 28-6 third quarter to open it up. Had five players in double figures led by Jalen Colon with 17 and, finally, beat Hackensack, 55-52, as Jaylen Colon again led with 22 points in the consolation round of the Jingle Bell Jubilee. Beat Passaic, 45-37, on Sunday as Joe Shouldans led with 11 points |

The Comets went 1-2 in Jingle Bell Jubilee, with the win coming in their second game against the No. 14 ranked team in New Jersey, Union Catholic, 63-53 where they built a halftime lead of 40-25. They were led by Razeyah Surrell, who had 15 points with four others scoring at least 9 points. In the opening game they were hammered by Gil St. Bernard, 76-43, as they trailed at half by 38-21. The Comets were also beaten in their final consolation game by Kennedy, 55-52. Tuesday they will see West Catholic (PA). |

Kept their unbeaten streak alive by capturing the Bergenfield Holiday Festival. The Bulldogs knocked off River Dell in the championship game, 59-55, as both Jordan McKoy and Tyson Etienne each scored 19 in the win. In the semis they broke open a 25-24 halftime lead by outscoring Bergenfield 22-5 in the third quarter and went on to win 59-44 as Tyson Etienne ended with 24 points. The Green Raiders lost to Wayne Hills, 64-47, in the championship game of their Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament held in Franklin Lakes. The Raiders trailed by 2 at the half, but were outscored 24-10 in the third quarter as their lack of size hurt them. In the semis they easily beat Passaic Tech, 57-38, as Jason Oppler led with 16 points. Friday Indian Hills at home and Old Tappan visits on January 10. |

The Bruins kept their unbeaten season alive as they needed a huge comeback to capture the John Carty Holiday Tournament in Mahwah by beating Northern Highlands, 45-44.
