DEMAREST -- This week's NorthJerseySports.com Athlete of the Week (for the week ending June 5) is NV/Demarest's Veronica Corcoran.
Corcoran had not one but two game-winning hits last week. The Demarest senior snapped a 4-4 tie in the NJSIAA North 1, Group 2 semifinals against Lenape Valley with a two-run single which led to an 8-4 win. In the section final she blasted a two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the Norsewomen a 3-1 win over Mahwah and their first section title in 37 years.
