WALDWICK -- The 49th Oscar F. Thompson Memorial Bergen County Jamboree field was selected on Friday morning and, as expected, St. Joseph Regional was named as the No. 1 seed. The undefeated Green Knights (14-0) head up a 20-team field that begins play with four first round games on Sunday at Felician College.
The strength of the NNJIL teams once again earned plenty of respect, with six of the top seven seeds going to the league. Don Bosco (9-2), despite its loss to Montclair on Thursday, was named the second seed, followed by Paramus Catholic (10-3). Englewood became the highest seeded public school at No. 4 , with the next three seeds going to Ridgewood (9-4), Bergen Catholic (9-5) and Teaneck (9-4).
Demarest (11-2) was put into the eight seed with Ramapo (10-3) and Westwood (9-3) rounding out the top 10. Cresskill (12-1), Cliffside Park (9-3), Lyndhurst (10-3), Wood Ridge (11-3) and Pascack Hills (9-3) are seeded 11th through 15, and Leonia (11-2), North Arlington (10-3), Palisades Park (9-4), Fair Lawn (8-4) and Saddle Brook (10-4) complete the field.
Seven teams that submitted applications were not considered for the tournament: River Dell, Rutherford, Bogota, Northern Highlands, Pascack Valley, St. Mary's and Midland Park.
