IMMACULATE CONCEPTION (5-1) --
Despite a one-point, 33-32 loss to Kennedy, the Blue Wolves keep the top spot by virtue of capturing the Lady Knights Showcase in Paterson with an emphatic 61-30 win over Newark Tech in the championship game. Breyenne Bellerand led with 15 points and they played all week without center Dani Deoul. The Wolves also added a win over Queen of Peace, 44-43, as Bellerand scored on a layup in the waning seconds to get the win and she had 19 points. Potter House (FL) on the Jan. 7. |

SADDLE RIVER DAY (5-2) --
Danny Brown had is team back on track after the setback to Immaculate Conception last week as they beat Lincoln handily, 73-29, in the opening round of the Lady Lions Christmas Tournament as Michelle Sidor had 23 points, they led 35-12 at half. In the Semifinals they beat Eastside 67-50 and had a 54-32 after 3 quarters as Michele hit for 39 points, and then cruised to the title with an easy 63-41 win over New Providence as Michele finished with 29. Home to Northern Highlands on Tuesday |

PASCACK VALLEY (7-0) --
Jeff Jasper’s crew continues to play without resistance from anyone in Bergen County as it dismantled Northern Highlands in the finals of the Joe Poli Tournament, 62-36, and led 34-12 at half. Balanced attack in this one as Indians finished in double figures led by Kelly Smith with 16. In the semifinals, they beat River Dell 55-37 as Briana Wong led with 14 and in the opening round they knocked off Glen Rock 84-44 as Wong had 27. QUEEN OF PEACE (1-3) --
The Golden Griffins suffered 3 losses in the Kennedy Lady Knights Holiday Showcase to really good teams over the holiday break. Started with a one-point loss to Immaculate Conception, 44-43, a game they led until the final seconds. Sydney Watkins had 22 points in the loss. Lost to Newark Tech, 63-51, after being tied at 28 at the half. Raven Farley-Clark had 22 in that game, and, finally, dropped a 61-55 decision to Staten Island Academy. |

KENNEDY (6-1) -- The Knights are learning quickly how to play without Tajae Stevenson as they pulled off a huge upset this week in beating Immaculate Conception, 43-42, in their own Holiday Showcase. Jimmirah Johnson has emerged, as she led the team with 12 points and Jayla McDuffie added 11. They also beat Teaneck, 32-31, as Taniesha Gilbert had 10 points. Captured fifth place with an easy win over North Bergen, 68-38, as Gilbert had 13 points. They visit Eastside on Friday night |

WESTWOOD (5-0) --
The Cardinals are off and running as they captured their own Holiday Hoops Tournament title with a 43-35 win over High Point as Sam McClutchy led the way with 15 points. In the semifinals they defeated Paramus Catholic, 57-46, as McClutchy had 34 points, including 18 at the foul line. In the opening round they beat Midland Park, 46-28, as Caryle Danziger led with 12. PARAMUS CATHOLIC (3-2) --
The Paladins went 2-1 in the Westwood Holiday Hoops tournament, and first year head coach Anthony McGilchrist has them improving quickly. They opened with a 33-32 over Ridgewood and needed to hold on as they blew a 29-15 lead after three quarters. Sarah Scerbak had 11 points. They then dropped a 57-46 game to Westwood before beating a depleted Ramapo team on Friday, 58-37, as Scerbak led with 17 points. Tuesday night they visit Holy Angels in a big game! |

NORTHERN HIGHLANDS (5-2) --
The Highlanders fell in the championship game of the Joe Poli Tournament, 62-36, to Pascack Valley, but not before posting two very nice wins. In the opening game of the tournament they trailed the whole game and by eight entering the fourth quarter against Secaucus, however they pressured and forced turnovers and got the game tied with 2 seconds left before Breanne Davis hit a 3 at the buzzer for the 57-54 win. They followed that up with big win over IHA, 47-35, as Breanne Davis had 15 points. SRD on Tuesday. |

RAMAPO (4-2) --The Green Raiders went 1-2 in the Westwood Holiday Hoops Tournament. They opened with a 38-25 win over Demarest as Emily Calabrese finished with 16 points. They then lost to High Point in the final seconds, 44-43, after leading most of the game as Calabrese had 21 points. Finally, with the Raiders missing some starters, lost to a good Paramus Catholic team, 58-37. Friday they visit Indian Hills |

10. PASCACK HILLS (4-0) --
The Cowgirls are for real. Last week they played Westwood and it was a five-point game at the half before a postponement hit and the game will be resumed at a later date. This week they knocked off a very good New Milford team in their holiday tournament, 61-54, in overtime after trailing 27-19 at half. Allison Ernest hit for 25 points including 13 from the foul line. That was followed up with a 53-12 win over Leonia as Erin Hedrick led with 11 points to capture the championship. Ridgefield Park on Tuesday and Dumont on Friday |

RIVER DELL (3-3) --
Lindsay Davis has her team playing very good defense and they used that to post an impressive win over Holy Angels in the opening game of the Joe Poli tournament, 46-29, using a 13-2 first quarter advantage to get them going. Madeline Webber finished with 13 points. They then held PV to its lowest point total of the season in falling 55-37. The Hawks then finished the tournament with a 29-27 win over IHA. Mahwah at home on Tuesday. Fun fact: River Dell is 0-3 against public school opponents; 3-0 against non-publics |

The Blue Eagles played without Katie Jones this week and they had a tough time scoring with their young team. They opened the Joe Poli Tournament with a 45-34 win over Old Tappan as Anna Morris led with 13 points, however they lost in the semifinals to Northern Highlands, 47-35, as Brittany Graf had 13 points. Angels went 2-1 in the Joe Poli Tournament after losing the opening game to River Dell, 46-29. They knocked off Glen Rock, 59-51, as Elena Pulanco scored 19 points and that was followed up with a good win over Secaucus, 56-49, after trailing 24-19 at the half as again Elena Pulanco had 19 points. John Sterling’s very young club picked up valuable game experience after going 1-2 in the Joe Poli tournament, as they led all three games at the half. In the first game they lost to Northern Highlands after falling apart in the final four minutes in losing at the buzzer, 57-54. Lindsey Mack had 20 points. Lost the opening game to Paramus Catholic, 33-32, rallying from 29-15 down in the fourth quarter to make it close as Annie McCarthy had 11 points. They then beat Midland Park, 43-24, behind Clare Smesko’s 13 points and finished with a 39-25 win over Demarest as Smesko had 11 points. Northern Highlands on Thursday. |

They almost knocked off a very good Pascack Hills team in the opening game of their Holiday Tournament before falling in overtime, 61-54, after squandering an eight-point halftime lead. Are off to a flying start with six wins and none of them competitive. They continued their outstanding play in the Marist Holiday Challenge as they beat Petrides (NY), 72-31, behind excellent play from Zanai Venable, who had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Breyanna Frazier’s 17 points. They then beat Notre Dame (NY), 51-37, as Emely Rosario had 19 and 10 rebounds. |

The Highwaywomen almost rallied late to beat Kennedy. They trailed by eight in the fourth quarter before losing, 32-31, as Ebony Brown hit four 3-pointers for 12 points to lead the way. Knocked off North Bergen, 46-35, as Amanda Howell led with 11 points. In the final game they beat St. Mary Assumption, 55-31, as Cedaja James had 19 points.
